I’m super stoked that singer Ela Querfeld<\/a> and I had the chance to co-write and produce a little song as a vocal demo for the new Ocean Way Microphone Collection plugin<\/a> by Universal Audio for the Sphere mic modeling system by Townsend Labs<\/a>. The company was looking for a 30-45 second long audio example that would showcase a preset titled “Alanis Invited” featuring the model of a vintage Neumann M 269 microphone. As the name of the preset might give away, this specific microphone from Allen Sides’ collection at Ocean Way Studios was the one used for Alanis Morissette’s vocals on the song “Uninvited”. So Ela and I got together on very short notice and wrote<\/a> and recorded a song we called “Burning Snow”. We created an arrangement and a melody that is purposefully intended to be reminiscent of this iconic song. But of course we still needed to come up with something original and that would match Ela’s vocals. Ultimately we had something like three hours to get this done and I’m quite happy with what we came up with! Universal Audio and Townsend Labs chose our track for marketing the new plugin and I couldn’t feel more honored about that. Have a listen for yourself here:<\/p>\n
